We embarked on a special journey with our elementary school students identified by Provincial National Education Directorates from needy regions, where dreams were transformed into lines and colors. We gave our children ceramic surfaces and pencils and said, “Draw your dream, make your picture”; we asked them not what they wanted, but what they dreamed of. In each drawing, the hopes, longings, and innocent expectations in the children's inner worlds became visible.
As the Meliha Ercan Foundation, in collaboration with the Provincial Directorates of National Education, we examined each of these dreams brought to life in these drawings and turned each child's picture into a tangible gift. Our goal was not just to give a gift; it was to make a child feel that their dream was seen and heard, to instill in their heart the feeling that “dreams are valuable.” Through this work, we experienced the joy of touching children's imaginations, nurturing their hopes, and preparing them for the future with stronger steps.
